Experience the fascinating combination of architecture and film history in Sölden: The impressive architecture of 007 ELEMENTS and the iconic location of the ice Q restaurant, which brought the film crew here, combine with spectacular backdrops that made Sölden the setting for an unforgettable Bond adventure.
Sölden and Spectre
In 2015, Sölden was transformed into the location for the 24th James Bond film SPECTRE. The Alpine region became the centre for breathtaking filming, which made Sölden internationally famous. At peak times, the film team consisted of up to 600 members. This production was a considerable size even for Sölden, which is used to large events.
ice q
The ice Q restaurant on the Gaislachkogl served as the impressive Hoffler Klinik in the film, where James Bond first meets Madeleine Swann. It is from here that the spectacular chase in the snow begins as Bond pursues villain Hinx and his henchman. The scenes were filmed on the glacier between the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers and on the adjacent glacier road, which was ideal for action-packed chases in the depths of winter.
Glacier Road
The glacier road was used for the chase sequence, in which Bond chases the villains by plane through the high alpine landscape. The producer asked: “We need an extreme road for an action-packed chase scene. Can anyone realize that?” The answer was a resounding yes. Today, you can experience this scene up close by driving along slope no. 30, which starts from the Rettenbach glacier.
Spectacular and unmistakable - at an altitude of 3,048 meters, the ice Q restaurant not only offers culinary excellence, but also an incomparable view. In the film, the modern building was transformed into a state-of-the-art clinic. And although the screenplay didn't just involve cannons firing snow, a luxurious dining experience with a spectacular view awaits you here.
A highlight in winter - the middle station of the Gaislachkoglbahn also played a role in SPECTRE. The scenes were filmed in the futuristic 3S cable car that takes you up to the summit. The modern cable car technology and impressive architecture provide an impressive backdrop for the filming. Climb aboard and experience the ride for yourself - as close up as in the movie scenes.
