As soon as you attach climbing skins to your skis you get into this special ski touring mode. Meditative, focused, ready for off-piste terrain. Avalanche transceiver check, gliding step by step, ascending slowly. In the uppermost part of Ötztal you will find ski tours of all difficulty levels up to the “Hautes Routes” of the Eastern Alps. Especially in spring, pristine nature adventures await you away from the groomed ski slopes.

Ötztal Tourismus assumes no liability for the tours & tips listed and strongly recommends being accompanied by a mountain guide. Glacier crossings are only possible with ropes and in a group. Before each tour, check the current avalanche report and inform someone in the valley about your destination and estimated time of return. As beautiful as ski touring is: safety comes first!

ALL ABOUT SKI TOURING

  1. Inform someone about your destination and wen you plan to be back
  2. Start early enough and return vefore dark (in sprign at noon - due to avalanche danger)
  3. Make glacier crossings only in a group and secured with a rope, it's best to enlist a local mountain guide
  4. Observe the areas local regulations at all times (e.g. wildlife preserves, restricted hunting areas, reforestation areas, information boards, etc.)
  5. Respect wildlife areas and feeding sites of Alpine animals and avoid noise 
  6. Keep dogs always on a lesh
