Even dense fog can't stop them: 15,000 fans on the open-air dance floor on occasion of the Electric Mountain Festival at Sölden's Giggijoch.
Clear sight is totally overrated as long as drums and basses reign over the Alpine scenery with loads of decibel. Sölden's 2016 edition of the Electric Mountain Festival proved that meteorological facts are not important at all when it comes to celebrating an electric music event. On two days some 15,000 party lions got together high above Sölden, offering a phat line-up of DJ heroes like NERVO, Steve Angello, Dany Avila and Tujamo.
April snowflakes make a great backdrop for Angello
The top-notch program had some true highlights presented in the course of the winter season finals. The atmosphere was simply exhilarating! Countless live stream viewers could witness the huge enthusiasm on the stage at 2300 meters above sea level, right at the heart of the Tirolean mountains – the high Alpine backdrop is everything but usual for such top acts world-wide. Star DJ Steve Angello, former member of the "Swedish House Mafia", was taken by the scenery. He also experienced quite heavy snowfalls in the middle of April.
NERVO caught by "Sölden Fever"
As well the two Australian NERVO headliners enjoyed the great atmosphere during their three-day stay in Sölden, plus the village's varied choice of entertainment and nightlife highlights. Superb skiing and a visit to the "ice Q" James Bond movie shooting location was an absolute must for them, too. In one of Sölden's night bars the cute twin sisters danced until the small hours and stood behind the bar. Impressions of their "most perfect trip" were posted immediately on Facebook (3.7 million fans) and Instagram (939,000 followers), praising Sölden's electric music event - by the way: a great marketing side effect. The two likeable Australian girls also showed their sense of humor by presenting a remix version of Reinhard Fendrich's "I am from Austria" at the end of the show.
For both Bergbahnen Sölden (mountain lift company) and Ötztal Tourismus (tourist board) the 5th edition of the Electric Mountain Festival - once opened by David Guetta five years ago - was again crowned with success. The coming festival promises equally nice sounding names at Giggjoch's Funzone in 2017.
