Welcome to the most flowing nation in the Alps

The Sölden region in the Tyrolean Ötztal is home to the most flowing nation in the Alps. You can take that quite literally, because with the Bike Republic Sölden, the destination launched a bike project in 2015 that offers all bikers and cyclists a new home. And is so much more than a conventional bike park. Here we explain what makes a MTB holiday in Sölden so special and also answer frequently asked questions.

The ‘transport network’ of the Bike Republic Sölden is multi-faceted and offers every mountain biker - regardless of age, riding level or favorite terrain - an exciting MTB offer.

In addition to 241 km of classic MTB routes that lead along forest tracks into the mountains, the shaped lines and single trails are also very popular. The Republic currently offers 12 different shaped lines, totalling 35 km in length and ranging from very easy (such as the Schtirggar Line) to very difficult (such as the Olm Volle Line). Our so-called ‘Long Lines’ combine several lines to create seemingly endless rides, such as the ‘Long Line Giggijoch’, which is a whopping 16 km long and has an altitude difference of more than 1,300 meters. Those who prefer natural single trails will find 17 routes of this type, totalling 36 km in length. The enduro trails provide the most beautiful ups and downs in life, while our pump tracks and bike & hike tours round off the offer.

The Bike Republic lines are characterized by their ecological design, which takes fauna and flora into consideration. What makes mountain biking in Sölden unique is the (high) alpine landscape: some lines start far above the 2,000 meter mark - such as the ‘Ollweite Line’, which starts at 2,658 meters and offers a striking backdrop with the glacier.

Five different mountain lifts are available as ascent aids for mountain bike transport. You can be shuttled up to the ‘Fernar Trail’, the challenging single trail that starts at the Tiefenbach glacier. In the valley, the valley-wide bus service with free bike transport ensures that tired legs get a breather.

The equipment you should pack for your MTB holiday depends on which routes you prefer to take. Of course, you should always have a helmet with you, even on classic MTB tours. If you're going to tackle shaped lines and single trails, you should also wear protectors for your chest, back, elbows and knees. But don't worry if you don't have these items (or forget them at home), because Sölden has the highest density of sports shops in the whole of Austria. These include many well-equipped bike shops where you can hire or buy all the equipment you need.
